歯に関する語彙
桜の季節になりましたね~
いたるところで桜の花が咲き始めました(^.^)
ところで先日英会話で歯の話になり、先生がたくさんの語彙を板所してくださったのでご紹介します。
・ wisdom teeth (親知らず)
・ molars (大臼歯、奥歯) --> back teeth used for chewing
・ front teeth (前歯) --> used for biting
・ eyeteeth (犬歯、糸切り歯)
・ pull out = extraction (抜歯)
・ cavity (虫歯) --> hole in tooth
・ filling (詰め物) --> material for filling hole (or cavity)
・ crown (冠) --> metal covor over teeth
・ bridge (ブリッジ) --> dental covering used when missing a tooth, etc.
・ partial(部分入れ歯)
・ root canal --> procedure where the root of the tooth is removed (根管)
-- leaving the tooth in place but effectively killing it,
usually a crown is placed over the tooth.
・ dentures (入れ歯) --> fake teeth
・ veneer (化粧歯?) -- usually make of porcelain,
used to cover old teeth
・ impacted tooth (埋伏歯)
・ floating tooth (浮遊歯)
・ receding gums --> when the gums pull away from your teeth (歯茎の縁が下がった状態?)
(ex.) I have a receding gum line.
・ sensitive teeth --> to have pain when eating hot/cold food
・ freezing --> needle used
・ blood clot (血栓)
・ dry socket (感染抜歯窩)
・ tongue depressor (舌押しへら)
【cleaning】
・ tooth paste (練り歯磨き)
・ dental floss (糸ようじ)
・ "to get your teeth cleaned" --> going to dental hygienist
・ fluoride treatment --> paste like substance used to clean teeth (フッ素処理)
・ "scaling" or tartar(歯石) removal
・ bleaching or "whitening" (漂白) --> make your teeth white
ずっと以前にテレビに、80歳代の男性で健康な歯をお持ちで硬いものもバリバリ食べることの出来る方がでていました。
秘訣は食べたらすぐに洗面所へ直行して、歯磨き!でした。
三食とおやつの後もです。
朝と寝る前だけの私は・・・年に1度は歯医者さんのお世話になりますものね・・・
「食べたら磨く」を実行すると、歯医者さん知らずになるかしら(^.^)
